It can be used as a stand-alone crib even when it's not connected to the bed. It is packed with incredible features that were designed with the idea of parent-child bonding in mind.
It is essential to keep in mind that this crib won't last as long after your baby turns six months old. You will need to purchase a larger crib. Overall, Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide was a excellent purchase and she was particularly impressed by its elegant design.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of the more expensive models, but it is packed with lots of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper or a standalone crib, and is suitable for infants from birth to six months. It is easy to open and close the side panel thanks to a new mechanism. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels and retractable feet for a secure fit under any bed.
Our testers were impressed by the ease of access provided by the side panel which can be moved upwards and downwards with just a single push of a button. This was particularly helpful at night, as they could reach inside and pick up their baby without disturbing them up.
The side panel can be removed on its own however, it's not advised as it increases the risk of your baby falling out of the cot. The patented safety locking system ensures that the side panel will remain in place when it is connected correctly to the parent's mattress. This is a wonderful feature to have in place for peace of mind, particularly in the case of breastfeeding and frequent nighttime feedings.
Telescopic legs enable the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed including divan bases or beds with drawers. It also has tilting functions for babies with reflux and a rocking mode that can help them sleep after eating. It's also extremely spacious and offers excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
Our test participants found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it does have quite a long instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than some of the other side-sleepers, however it's very portable and can be moved from room to room with ease. It can also be folded into a travel bag, which is ideal if you want to transport it. The only downside our test subjects found was that the side panel didn't flex like some of the other models, which made it slightly harder to see your baby from your own bed.
